Soluziona Group, an Italian company with a decade of experience in creating solutions for disabled and elderly individuals, is expanding its innovative “Familio” system across Alpine borders with support from the TIGER project. The company represents a prime example of how TIGER empowers eHealth innovators to overcome market barriers and develop customer-driven healthcare solutions with cross-border impact.
Familio is designed to enhance the safety and independence of vulnerable individuals living alone. The system employs sensors and advanced software to learn about a person’s behavioral patterns and detect potentially dangerous deviations from normal activity. When unusual patterns are detected, Familio initiates an escalation protocol, alerting family members, friends, or emergency services as needed.
Understanding the Varying Reimbursement Structures
Alberto Miotti, Administrator at Soluziona Group, explains that while the company had established itself in Italy, expanding to other Alpine regions presented significant challenges. Each country’s healthcare system operates differently, with varying reimbursement structures, insurance roles, and market entry requirements. TIGER’s Market Entry Accelerator service provided Soluziona with targeted guidance to navigate these complex differences.
“What works in Italy cannot work smoothly in France,” notes Miotti. Through TIGER’s support, Soluziona gained invaluable insights into the healthcare ecosystems of France, Germany, and Slovenia. This knowledge is enabling the company to adapt its business model appropriately for each market, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, and to identify potential different approaches applicable to Familio.
Facilitating Cross-Border Expansion
By facilitating the cross-border expansion of innovations like Familio, TIGER is directly addressing the healthcare challenges faced by aging populations in remote Alpine regions. The project demonstrates how regional cooperation can accelerate the adoption of vital healthcare technologies where they’re needed most.
