FosTering ehealth and social Innovations as Gamechangers in sEnior and Remote care

The Alps cover an area of about 190,000 square kilometres. 8 Alpine countries, including Austria, Slovenia, Italy, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Monaco and Switzerland, share the Alpine region, where some 14 million people live in almost 6,000 municipalities.

The Alpine region is characterised by rugged mountainous terrain, with many remote and isolated areas and communities. This leads to unequal access to health and care services. The growing elderly population is particularly affected by such health inequalities.

On the other hand, companies and innovators who want to drive medical progress and eliminate this inequality are repeatedly faced with similar challenges in the product development process. Common barriers include a lack of a coordinated and structured approach to innovation diffusion services, inadequate user experience management, or a lack of coordination between medical and business experts, among others.
